Air Conditioning

Evaporator Coil

Evaporator coils are the heart of any air conditioner's cooling. These copper coils are found within the indoor air handler, or cooling unit. They are directly connected to the extremely cold liquid refrigerant.

The blower draws warm air in your home over the evaporator coils, which cools down the refrigerant. As it passes these coils, the water vapor condenses to reduce the humidity in your home.

Clean your evaporator to maximize its efficiency. When dust and gunk collect on it, heat transmission is reduced. Your system must use more energy to keep up with thermostat settings. You and your HVAC provider should work together to create a regular maintenance schedule.

Ductwork

Ductwork is the network of tubes and conduits that distributes air from the furnace or air conditioning unit throughout the house. When properly installed and designed, ductwork is a cost-effective way to provide energy efficiency. It also provides comfort for the home's inhabitants.

The term ductwork refers vents that are installed on walls, floors or ceilings in order for air conditioning to be brought into the living space. Most ductwork consists of rigid sheet steel to limit airflow restriction and maintain a comfortable temperature. It should be inspected regularly for any holes or cracks which could deprive conditioned air its benefits. In order to avoid a loss in conditioned air, it is important to conduct periodic duct maintenance. Other types of air ductwork may include take-offs which divert small amounts of main ductflows into branch ducts. They also include turning vanes, which minimize resistance.
